Clinical Studies in to the Benefits and Uses of Collagen

In a comprehensive range of clinical studies, PureLogical Collagen exerts a positive influence on degenerative joint disease. It has also been shown that they have a prophylactic effect in preventing damage to joints, ligaments and tendons, important for those who have to carry out strenuous work or who take part in sports activities.

PureLogical Collagen is used in beauty products for enhancing hair and nail growth and for their positive influence on the skin.

Collagen is absorbed through the intestinal wall into the blood stream and from there it goes directly to connective, support and other tissues. Scientists at the University of Kiel have been able to show, using labeled collagen molecules, that collagen components reach cartilage tissue just six hours after ingestion. Other tests using antibodies have identified gelatine directly in joint cartilage hence confirming this. New studies have additionally shown that chondrocytes, the "cartilage factories" of joints, can be stimulated to produce more in the presence of collagen.

University of Wurzburg, Germany
The results of a survey by the Medical Clinic of the University of Wurzburg, Germany in 1995 shows that the long term consumption of Collagen increases the stability and resilience of protein structures. This in turn leads to an improvement in the quality of brittle fingernails and improvement in the quality of hair.

University of Cleveland, USA - Dr. Moskowitz
Collagen is the decisive support tissue of skin, bone and cartilage, according to Dr. Moskowitz, from the University of Cleveland.

Cartilage can be compared in many ways to a car tire: the rubber provides the compression power and the nylon fibers provide the support. Cartilage, which has shock-absorbing properties, is held together by collagen fibers.

Osteoporosis (loss of bone substance) and osteoarthritis (joint wear) are now widespread diseases that affect much of the population. Since the 1970's, studies have been carried out that clearly show: gelatine is not only able to replace missing collagen and prevent degeneration of bone, joint and cartilage; it can also activate the formation of cartilage.

Harvard Medical School
Tests carried out by Harvard Medical School have shown that 100 per cent pure collagen feeds and supports connective tissue.

The results of research by physiologists Dr Oesser and Professor Seifert of Kiel University, published just two months ago, showed for the first time that collagen plays an important part in the nutrition of cartilage tissue.

The work of Professor R Moskowitz, director of the Arthritis Institute of the University of Cleveland and president of the International Osteoarthritis Research Society offers further evidence of the effectiveness of collagen in the treatment of osteoarthritis.

Moskowitz’ research has shown that collagen resulted in a significant reduction of pain and an improvement in joint mobility for people suffering from osteoarthritis.
